John Douglas’ art marks a fine balance between classicism and modernism. The Kansas born, Arizona raised artist creates aged, weathered beauty with a timeless mystique. Subtle elements of the Southwest’s natural surroundings are presented with worldly sophistication. After graduating from Arizona State Univeristy, the fine arts major heeded his traveler’s passion. His art borrows from classic principles including Greek and Roman aesthetics like columns and the aging mosaic patterns to the palms of the British West Indies and the royalty of the Renaissance that continue to compel his love of experimentation.
